The Butthurt Association of America (BHAA) was founded in 1999 by 2 individuals known as Hugh Thomas Jass and Michael Vincent Hunt. Their goal was to help the people on the internet cure from their anger that was caused by another user on the internet (also known as butthurt). In 2001, they have hired over 100 employees and in 2002 the BHAA was all over the news when they have successfully shut down 24 forums dedicated to spreading hate and threats.

In 2004, they have began gaining funding from the USA government to help the association cure more butthurt from the internet. In a interview with a computer magazine from 2005, Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the World Wide Web, had this to say about the BHAA: "I think it's really great that such a organization exists, it helps for the new internet users. I myself have been with the association since 2003 and i will keep supporting it until they die."

Today, the BHAA has over 600 employees, a 500 million dollar net worth and a office in Century City, California.
